All Lights at Uppsala 2016

During the darkest month of the year, a light festival is held in Uppsala, Sweden, where light installations illuminate the city core. The festival is arranged in November and it’s an art exhibition where the idea is to encourage walking, even during the winter months, and showcase innovative ways of working with light.

10 installations spread light over the city during the annual festival

One of them, illuminated object no.7, was “New Start”, placed in the Linnaean Garden during the 4th to 27th of November 2016. “New Start” was designed by Nilsa Sarmiento, an architect and light designer from Panama, now living in Uppsala, Sweden.

Akriform helped Nilsa to realize her idea; a sculpture of an abstract flower that tells us to never give up, even through difficult times, and that nothing is impossible.

Thanks to a special glass foil added to the acrylic, different colors of light are created. If you look closely you can also see engraved text.
